The supporting strings were strung thru the wooden bar at the top through eight drilled holes that eventually "sawed" the strings in two places. I was looking for a different design and this one is it!! I now have this chair and it is so very comfortable and extremely well made!! I hang it from a tree in my yard and bring it in at night! SO COMFORTABLE; I can sit and ready all day in it!!
