it comes with a clear plastic bag around it, with the white fabric on the outside of that. You'll immediately notice the black carbon inside the bag, leave it in and carefully remove the plastic while keeping the fabric on. I then duct tapped the top and bottom part of the fabric to the filter (I'm guessing this keeps the black carbon particles in).

then just hook that up to some 6" ducting and you're good to go! The connector was a little too small but nothing duct tape or ducting clamps can't fix; besides you should be sealing all connections anyways.
