I always look for an Amazon verified purchase when I read a review and I bought this from In the Swim directly in the past (didn't think about Amazon then ) but this product was a life changing experience for me and I would have hired a pool man without it so I am reviewing this for people like me who have difficulty managing the 2.5 gallon 10.5 percent liquid shock from pool store and can't hand vacumn their pool. the Calcium chloride powdered shocks leave a residue that clouds the water ....this doesn't. I have read extensively and this is the only powdered shock I found that did not increase the stabilizer level in the pool. The 3 inch chlorine tablets also contain stabilizer....if you use stablized chlorine and stabilized shock the stabilzer level will get too hgh and you will have to backwash a LOT of water out of the pool to lower the stabilizer ...water is expensive ....to me that helps offset the price of the lithium shock. Lithium shock is advertized to not bleach or damage vinyl liner pools. As far as I can tell it doesn't. A review on in the swim says their vinyl liner looks great after 18 years but that person lives in the northeast and weather would be a facter. I live in the deep south and I don't know how long a vinyl liner's lifespan would be increased It also depends on the thickness o the liner...when I replaced my liner in 2006 I bought a 40 ml liner even though the pattern options were very limited compared to the 20 ml liners. I have been using lithium shock for three years and the results are the same as when I was using liquid chlorine from the pool store. People often comment on how my pool water sparkles..( i also add a clarify when needed ) I realize I sound like a salesman but if you read all my reviews on Amazon you'll see I'm not...Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "In The Swim Lithium Pool Shock 12 lbs" are high quality item. You can read each testimony from consumers to find out cons and pros from In The Swim Lithium Pool Shock 12 lbs ...
