Char-Griller 2424 Side Fire Box, Fits 2121, 2123, 2137 Review

I purchased one of these Super Pro Grills and the Side Firebox this past week and used it yesterday to make the best pulled pork shoulder I've ever smoked.

The grill was fairly easy to put together, and I was able to do it by myself contrary to the indication on the instructions.

Once we stoked and started it, it proved to be a great buy- it was relatively easy to keep a low, constant temperature around 225 degrees, occasionally adding more fuel and wood to the side firebox. It does need to be watched and checked often, but is worth the effort. It retains the smoke well, even though a good amount escapes around the joints, and produced a truly enviable smoke ring on the meat.

The cast iron grates are easy to clean and really make this model superior to anything I've seen in the price range. One caveat is they MUST be cleaned and seasoned properly to ensure they won't rust, but that being said they're amazing. (One good cleaning tip I got from my grandfather, who's an old hat at smoking and grilling, is to place them in a self-cleaning oven on the clean cycle when they get really cruddy, and they come out perfect with the seasoning intact).

I have only one complaint-- the first time my husband and I tried to move the grill, both of the included plastic wheels cracked around the axle, making it impossible to use them to roll the grill! I looked back over the instructions, but as I suspected, I had installed the wheels correctly. The grill was not rolled over rough terrain, just down our driveway to the backyard.

We LOVE the grill itself, but need to be able to move it to different locations around the house (backyard for parties, driveway for our use). I contacted Char-Griller about this and they were very helpful, offering to send replacements. However, I think we're going to get a set of sturdier wheels from somewhere else, not relishing the idea of replacing THOSE wheels again.

Overall, this is a great buy, and as an avid griller and smoker I'd recommend it as a great first foray into smoking.

Poulan 952802360 8 amp 1.5 HP Electric Pole Pruner with 10-Inch Bar and Chain, Boom Telescopes up to 8 Feet Review

I bought this saw primarily because the saw itself can be removed from the pole and used as any other electric saw.
The saw ships detached from the pole and I first used it that way.
I found it very easy and reliable. I trimmed several limbs and cut down two small trees, about 5 - 6 inches thick with no problems. The chain must be adjusted after only a few cuts, hopefully this will improve.
I then attached it to the pole. This is NOT as easy as the instructions suggest. The picture guide is tiny and does not do a good job of illustrating the procedure. The problem is that the bracket that secures the saw to the pole comes in two pieces. One piece must be worked into the trigger guard of the saw on such a way that a part of the bracket depress the trigger. The second piece, which is part of the pole, must then be secured with four screws to the first. The holes do not line up easily, the weight of the pole made it hard to keep the holes lined up and the bracket slipped off several times.It took 30 minutes to attach the saw to the pole. This is a two person job.
Also being new to chain saw, I did not realize that even an electric saw must have oil to lube the chain and guide. This saw does not come with chain saw oil. This cost me time in going to the store to buy oil.
Once mounted, I used the saw to trim limbs off of a tree far above my head. The saw became a little heavy after about 45 minutes, plenty of time to do some serious trimming.
The only flaw is in how the pole locks once extended. I found it impossible to lock the pole enough to:
- prevent the saw from rotating out of alignmnet with the pole mounted trigger switch
- prevent the saw itself from rotating while cutting
It was still usable but not as effective.
One last point, the power plug tends to snag and become unplugged.

Ancient Graffiti Solid Copper Birdbath with Iron Twig Stake Review

A beautiful looking product, exactly as shown in the pictures. However, it would've been helpful to have a more useful description rather than 'made using nature friendly methods' or whatever, but I digress...

We just received this bird bath (very quickly I should point out, 1 day ahead of the earliest estimate), and it's very nice brand new, we haven't put it outside yet so I reserve the right to edit this review if I find out it rusts after a week outside. On the other hand if it weathers beautifully outside then I can also raise the rating to 5 stars.

The facts: The stand stabs into the ground with two metal spikes for good support. It's made of heavy gauge metal, very solid, I don't expect a bent or broken stand from the wind to be a problem. The rim of the copper dish rests on the ends of the three 'branches', there is no 'hoop' that cradles the base of the dish or any way of attaching the dish to the stand. We will have to wait and see how often the wind blows the dish off of it's supports. The stand is spray coated brown so it will blend nicely into a garden environment.

I will revisit this review once it's been outside for a while and I can see how it holds up, until then I'm very happy with it in it's brand new state. We spent $50 each on two different bird baths in the past that only lasted 1 season each, so at less than twice the price of a 1 season bath, if this lasts several years looking good we will be very happy indeed.

Fake Rock Skimmer and Septic Lid Cover (Fieldstone) (6"H x 27"W x 31"D) Review

[This mirrors the review of the same product in riverbed color] We ordered this product from Stacks and Stacks, but ended up ordering the wrong color because their ads on Amazon don't do a terrific job in explaining that the product comes in two colors: fieldstone (almost white) and riverbed (brown/reddish). We wanted the riverbed color, but mistakenly ordered the fieldstone. The pictures do differ but there wasn't clear (at least to us) text in the product description to help us make sure we were ordering the right one.

Learn from our mistake; make sure you check out the product code for the one you buy: the one that ends in 108-FS is the whitish one and the one that ends in 108-RB is the browner/reddish one. Once we returned the wrong color (at our expense) and got the proper one, we're very pleased. We use it to cover the Savio compact skimmer/filter in our small pond and it matches very nicely with the rocks we've got surrounding the pond. We also ordered the upright companion product that covers the electrical outlet post (about 16" tall) that we use to power the pond pump. These Dekorra products seem well made and they are extremely useful in helping to hide the man-made elements in our landscape. I'd recommend them and gave them a 4 instead of a 5 only because I felt the product description could have been clearer about color choice.
