Claber 8410 Aquadue Duplo Dual-Outlet Digital Water Timer Review

I bought this unit to water two zones of crops. I had not seen any other timers that had dual outputs, and would much prefer the integration of having to only program one unit. This unit did the trick.

I was pleased at the quality construction of the unit. The hose thread went on easily to my spigot with no leaks. I have very strong water pressure of 120psi and this unit is rated to 150psi so no problem there. There are quick releases for the lower portion, which again, is wonderful since you don't have to contort you hand to get on the hoses.

The unit is heavy, so you want to ensure your spigot portion is well supported. failure to support your unit could cause issues down the road. In my case, I had the orbit 4-port manifold attached, and this has a metal frame bracket exactly to do this purpose.

The timer itself has 6 settings, however only 3 can be used for each line. So if you have more than 3x/day water for your zone, this is not the unit for you! Fortunately I only needed 2x a day for each zone. It was a little complex at first to figure out how to program but didn't take long to master. Note the LCD does NOT detach from the housing, at least not easily.

Unit is powered by a 9V battery which supposedly will last a year. I tested by removing the 9V and replacing quickly -- the settings WERE retained, which is a blessing so you don't have to worry about reprogramming each time you put new batteries in.

The unit has a rain-gauge port and I did purchase the rain gauge unit as well. It hasn't rained so I cannot attest to the effectiveness but it was easy to install.

You might also want to know that the valves are smooth turning rather than abrupt -- this means the water cuts off slowly rather than slams the valve shut immediately. Extremely important factor for old homes with piping that hammers when the water valve suddenly closes. Very nice!

Overall, I'm pleased with the unit. It would've been nice if the LCD detached, but other than that I'm happy with it.

I was skeptical, but wiling to give it a try and it has saved me lots of time. My goat is a bit skittish, so we did have to work around her fears, but in a fraction of the time I'd spent hand milking her, we had her completely empty. If planning to use this item, it would be good to have a properly made stanchion to feed and hold the goat. Until the goat becomes accustomed to being milked in this manner, I would keep all parts away from her legs and the tubings are long enough to pull that off. I do have power in the barn, but it was nice to have a battery operated device and not have to worry about plugging something in, with all the other things I had to do to get this chore done. Right off hand, I can't really come up with a negative comment about this product. I wanted a closed system, to ensure the milk would stay clean, even if the goat moved around and I have it.

Excellent warming hut heat source when used with a portable shelter and two/three sidewalls during winter campouts in sub zero temperatures. Uses about 1/3 of a 20lb propane tank in 5 hours. Be wary - on the company's website, they make note of the fact that the cover fits a table 60" x 36", and there really isn't any give to the material. Didn't fit for me, so sent it back, but they didn't pick up the shipping, which I suppose is okay, but I feel like the failure to fit was at least in part on them since there is no mention in the Amazon description of the smaller length.
That said, fabric was very high quality in appearance and would have been wonderful had it fit.
An additional frustration that I haven't figured out yet: next size up comes only with an umbrella hole in this fabric. Called the company, they said the umbrella hole has a snap closure and might let in water, but I could seal it up with duct tape. Honestly, if I'm duct-taping a $100 cover to make it watertight, I'm kicking myself.
Summary: fabric and quality looked like 5 stars; customer service was lacking; description was lacking. Given that I'm out $11 for postage, 3 weeks down the road without a cover, and don't have a solution, I'm not too happy. If it fits your table, though, it's probably a 4- or 5- star item.

This is really a substantial, well-made watering can. I expect to get many years of use out of it. That said, it is also very heavy when full of water, so if you have problems lifting heavy items, this size may not be the one for you. I typically fill it 1/2-3/4 full...the water doesn't spill out the top opening, and that is usually enough water for the job I'm doing.

The double handles are extremely useful. I only wish it had a "stem" to place the brass rose when not in use.
