American Lighting SGL-LED-WW Outdoor LED Step Light Fixture Review

I passed on these as exterior step lights, in favor of the slightly pricier LED offering from WAC. But recently, I had the need to add a couple of exterior down lights to illuminate the face of our recessed garage door, i.e. something dramatic/contrasty in terms of highlighting, but not overly bright. I first tried the WAC units, but since their single LED fires down when oriented horizontally (as a step light ought to), it was shining light sideways when installed as a ceiling light.

So I turned to these American Lighting units, combined with their non-louvered Smooth Faceplate.

Unlike the single-LED WAC units, these have a 12-LED matrix behind the glass, leading me to make some assumptions of the quality of what's tucked inside (generally speaking, the more LEDs I see packed into a light source, the lower the quality of the product). BUT for now I'm not dwelling on that, because this unit puts out the type of light I'm looking for -- a broad swath of warm light that blends in with the nighttime aesthetic of the neighborhood.

I'll be keeping an eye on these through the winter months, and will report back any problems that pop up. Assuming they continue to work as advertised, I may end up choosing these over WAC for a series of interior stair lights I'll be installing soon. Despite my dislike of the mulit-LED array under the lens, the overall build quality seems to suggest these lights are worthy of more prominent placement.

Hayward GLX-PCB-DSP Display PCB Replacement for Select Hayward Salt Chlorine Generators Review

Purchased this display board for my Aqua Rite Electronic Chlorine Generator made by Goldline Controls Inc. which is now a Hayward company. I was having problems with my generator not dipalying the proper settings for the desired chlorine level selected. I removed the display and cleaned the contacts and the selector switch with a contact cleaner but this did not resolve the problem. I contacted Goldline Controls and the technician walked me through the diagnostic and determined the problem was the display board and gave me the the exact replacement model (GLX-PCB-DSP).

I called the local pool supply shop and found out the cost for a new display board would be $220 but the item was not in stock. Since the unit is six years old, I was not willing to pay that much for a mere display unit. I decided to look for a replacement unit, which I found for $875 (new) online, and use the old unit for spare parts as needed. Prior to ordering the new unit, I googled "Hayward GLX-PCB-DSP" and found out Amazon had the exact item (new) for less than $87. The item arrived within a few days even though I used the free Super Saver shipping.

The display board is extremely easy to replace. Cut power from the chlorinator, unplug the white T cell cable, and remove the two screws that hold the cover in place. Remove the disply unit and plug in the new board. Make sure you don't bend any of the contacts. Replace cover and screws, plug in the T cell cable, restore power, and you're done. Total time to replace...less than 5 minutes.

New replacement board is slighly different than original because it's a newer model. The dimensions are the same and all holes align properly. Also, the new board features LED lights which are much brighter than the original lights.

Extremely satisfied with the purchase. Problem was fixed quickly and I saved about $130.

I would also like to mention that this is my second Aqua Rite system I have owned. My first one was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Over the years, I have contacted technical support at Goldline controls, via phone, a few times with excellent results. My questions were always quickly answered and the technicians quickly walked me through any required diagnostic procedures. Impressive technical support.

This product was delivered as expected. It shipped quickly and arrived on time.

There's not much you can say about a 10x10 sheet of EPDM. I purchased it for a small backyard turtle pond. 45 mil EPDM is heavy and can be ackward to work with. My pond is rectangular in shape approximately 5'x4' with an average depth of 1.5'. The pond has a ledge on the long side at a depth of 1'. The liner covered the pond completely and holds water without leaking.

Only time will tell how well it hold water, but it is thick and should do the job. We have turtles, fish and water lilies and cattails in the pond.

Amazon's price was considerably cheaper than buying in a shop. I priced it at both Home Depot and Lowes (no pond supply shops around here) and Amazon's price was about $30 cheaper.
