There are two sizes of this Kichler outdoor lantern. We liked the looks of it and decided to give it a try. The 14.5" one is very very big. Not sure were would one put so big lantern. The 12" seemed to be the perfect size, looks great.

Perfect umbrella for the small area where I need it. The fabric is of a much nicer quality than those of a similar size sold at the big box store. It is a size that will be easy to take down and store away for winter. I've only had this for about a month or so, but I have absolutely no complaints, so far.

Now that I've had the umbrella for over a month, the crank handle became loose, and it didn't work properly. I removed the plastic housing and found that the locking nut that holds it together had come loose. Reattached and tightened the nut, lubricated the crank with silicone spray, and replaced cover. An easy fix and everything is fine now. Still love the umbrella.

Smokehouse Products Mini Chief Top Load Smoker Review

I've owned a Mini Chief smoker for more than 10 years, and I still use it at least weekly.
I've smoked many pounds of Salmon, whole chickens, turkey legs, ribs, etc.
When I follow directions, it works perfectly. The problem is that many users don't understand how to properly smoke.

If you can fit it in the smoker, it will smoke it. As with any smoker, meat should be cooked "low and slow", with low heat, over several hours.
A whole fryer chicken, which I brined over night, took about 6 hours, and was as tender, juicy and delicious as any other method I've used to cook a chicken. I snack on delicious smoked Salmon daily, and it's as good or better than any that I've bought in the store.

Btw, I highly recommend Alder wood for fish and poultry - do a web search for "justsmokedsalmon" for more info, recipes and great prices on Alder wood chips.

The Mini Chief maintains an internal temp of about 250-275 degrees, the perfect temperature for proper smoking.
It does get harder to maintain proper temps in cold and/or windy weather, but I just use it in a semi-sheltered corner area next to my porch. I've used it on windy, 15 degree days with no problem other than adding 30-60 minutes on to the cooking time. I set the thermo. up so I can see it from my kitchen window, so I don't have to run outside to check it.

Also, I use a thermometer with a remote probe so I can monitor the temp. of the meat without removing the lid, otherwise you lose the heat you built up and will add hours onto the cooking time and/or dry out the meat. I highly recommend you get one, you won't be sorry.

Oh, yeah, the book contains instructions for smoking cheese. You can cold smoke with it if you are careful.

The only issue I would have if I were to buy another one is the size. Depending on what and how much you intend to smoke, you may do better with a larger smoker, but it will be almost twice the price. Also, it would be nice to have a front loading model, but that has never really caused a problem, it would just add convenience.

Lights in a tube! what else is there, really?

These seem to be a good quality rope light, very bright, and fairly consistently bright throughout the whole length of the product (which turned out to be just over 50 feet, probably about 53-54 feet not including the power apparatus). overall, very satisfied with the build quality and the lighting quality.
As noted, the cool white is excellent for reading and high-contrast environments. I have this mounted on molding about 8 inches from the ceiling (which is 8 foot), and it fully lights the room without any trouble whatsoever. this particular color temperature is excellent for lighting in a computer room or somewhere you might be looking to neutralize the retina burning glow of ultra high contract LCD monitors and dont require absolute darkness (or if you prefer a lighted area and hate cool white CFL bulbs, which are just horribly blue tinted.)

minus one star for the mounting clip design. it might be sufficient for sheetrock walls, but its a PITA for plaster with years and years of paint layers. the included screws are short and the threading is too shallow to grip when screwed in. I ended up making pilot holes using a nail and hammer, then hammering these screws in to prevent them from stripping their own holes. I suppose that may be a problem with my walls more than the design, so i digress.
the clips themselves are just OK. them seem to be made of a type of plastic that will become brittle over a period of time.

on the plus side, they do give you 50 clips, 50 screws, and a handful of frosted color zipties.

last thing to note: if you are nitpicky, it is worth mentioning that you can see the additional non-LED components inside of the tubing from a fair distance indoors. this may bug some people. get a colored or frosted tube version if thats your deal.
