We had been wanting a rain chain for a long time, but were not impressed with the selection offered in our local stores. So after scouring the internet, we settled on this Mizoko Chain, and are very happy with it. It was easy to install, but and adds a nice touch to the outside of our house. If you live in a windy area, make sure you anchor or tether it to the ground, otherwise it will sway a little. Earthway Tubular Steel High Wheel Cultivator 6500 Review

We brought an Earthway high wheel garden cultivator to a family member in Ireland who has a large organic vegetable garden. It works amazingly well. We have only used the five-prong cultivator to weed between the crop rows in pretty heavy clay soil, and have yet to try the other attachments. It requires only the technique of using a manual push mower: one step forward at a time; a shallow pass the first time and a deeper pass the second; going down the grade rather than up it; and so on. We are so impressed with it that we've just ordered one for our home garden and allotment in California. It makes weeding a pleasure and saves our backs.

September 2, 2007 follow-up. We did not have such good luck with our second cultivator. It arrived packaged in the original Earthway box, but it was missing two vital parts and the parts that were sent were painted black, not the usual powdered steel finish. We called Earthway, which promptly sent the two parts and had no explanation why the hoe was now painted black. I asked them to make sure that the missing parts were black as well. The two parts arrived painted gray, so we have a 2-tone hoe. Additionally, the main tool, the 5-clawed cultivator, had too much solder on one of its two parts, so they did not fit together smoothly, with the result that our hoe is somewhat lopsided when it is standing up. It still works well, but its appearance and lopsidedness take away some of the pleasure of using it. We emailed Earthway about it, but never received a response.

10 Compact Recessed Small White LED Lights Lighting with Transformer Wood Deck Yard Garden Patio Stairs Landscape Outdoor Flush Mount Installation Kit Review

These are great little lights. I've had family, friends, and a few contractors ask me where I got them--they're fairly unique. I have 30 of these installed in a pathway of concrete pavers outlining our natural grass. Installation could not be easier: Drill a hole, insert the light, connect the wires(foolproof connectors) to the next light, plug the whole chain into an outlet. The description made it sound like they were more for wood decks, but no problems so far directly buried in the ground. The connectors appear to be water-tight and seal well when connected. The rest of the light is completely sealed and appears to be very durable. The one thing I'm not sure of yet is how well the flush mount chrome ring will hold up. It appears to be susceptible to water spots and discoloration(via oxidation?). We've only had them installed for a few days, but are so far very happy...and for the price nothing else I could find even comes close in terms of construction and appeal. We'll be ordering more for other parts of the yard.

Update: After a couple of months two of the 30 lights have died and I'm going to try and seek replacement from the seller. I'm hoping this isn't going to be a trend. One star removed.

In this suburban neighborhood in Connecticut, life is a constant struggle for the amateur gardener. Between the deers and the racoons, the chipmunks and the ground squirrels, it is a rare treat when a produce actually survives the pests and reaches the dinner table.

Over the years, I have learned to adopt pest-resistant plants, but one cannot live on chili peppers alone. In particular, I like garden-fresh tomatoes. Unfortunately, the chipmunks share this affinity, and my garden ends up littered with dozens of large beautifully ripe heirloom tomatoes, half-eaten and covered with ants.

I tried traps, but after one success, the chipmunks figured out how to get at the peanut butter without getting caught. A month ago, I finally had enough and, overcoming my aversion toward toxic solutions, ordered this big pail of rodenticide.

My property sits on half-an-acre of land, with a mixture of lawn and bushes. A fairly liberal distribution of the baits consumes around 2-3 lbs. At first, the chipmunk population seems quite unaffected. I still see them daily playing just outside the windows. Once when I works in the garden, a baby even crawls within 3 feet, totally oblivious to the rightful owner of the tasty fruits. Just as I begin to despair, I notice that the blue blocks have disappeared from where I place them. Energized with renewed hope, I re-applied the rodenticide. This time, they are consumed even more quickly, with debris strewn over the usual chipmunk playground. It has been two days since I last see a chipmunk. I am hopeful...

I have since applied this rodenticide a third time. It is very popular with the chipmunks and is gone within days. The problem is that the toxicity seems very low, at least to chipmunks. Many of them are sampling this delicious treat again and again. Ten minutes ago, I just startled one little fellow munching on a chunk of the rodenticide near my front door and saw him scurried away, leaving a trail of blue-green crumbs. Although, to the manufacturer's defense, these Connecticut chipmunks are tough. I put out a traditional mouse trap on the deck. The next day, the peanut butter was gone and the trap was no longer armed, but not a trace of chipmunks was in sight.
