Product Description
Vent harmful gasses from your frozen pond with the Allied Precision Pond Breather. Harmful gasses from decomposing matter and accumulated fish waste can be trapped under the ice in your pond and can reach toxic levels, possibly harming your fish and plants if not allowed to escape. Rather than heating a hole in the ice, the revolutionary Pond Breather is designed to float in your pond, freeze into ice as thick as 15 inches, and move a steady stream of water above the ice layer where gas exchange can then occur. Operating on 120 volts and at an efficient 40 watts, the Pond Breather uses 31 times less energy than 1250 watt pond de-icers. Every 24 hours, the Pond Breather exposes 4,000 to 10,000 times more surface area of water than conventional heaters or de-icers. Supplying only enough heat to keep the water flow open, the Pond Breather creates a gentle current to move oxygen throughout your pond. Eliminate toxic gasses from your pond with the Allied Pond Breather.API 8PB Pond Breather Heated Aerator, 40 Watts Review
I purchased this pond breather from a local horticulture supplier, and he explained how it worked and how to put it together, which turned out to be quite simple but I was glad to get the instruction and have a better understanding of the contraption. I floated it to the middle of my pond and plugged it in, that was it! It successfully kept my small koi pond aerated all winter long with no maintenance at all. Winter is over and the ice has now melted so I pulled it out and cleaned it, which was more work than I had hoped but was totally worth it for the worry free winter. My fish are alive and healthy. For the other reviewer who could not get theirs to work, I suspect the tubing came unplugged from the pump which would explain the "tube to nowhere". The pump is inside the white plastic cage and can be accessed easily by snipping off the plastic ties (then reconnecting with more plastic ties). I had no trouble at all with it tipping over so perhaps the breather tube wasn't properly screwed together. Anyway, just wanted people to know it does work and is a good option for keeping your fish alive all winter. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "API 8PB Pond Breather Heated Aerator, 40 Watts" are high quality item.
