In this review I will cover my personal experience with this product, some application tips, safety tips, and where to buy azomite for cheap.

Background: I bought my house 2 yrs ago in 2011. I have 4 crape myrtle trees on my property. 3 of the trees in the front yard were dead due to the Oklahoma draught/heat of 2011. These three trees had no leaves and the branches were so dry that it would snapped off. The remaining crape myrtle managed to survive because it was located next to the house which protected this tree from direct sunlight and the sizzling winds.

In the spring of 2012, I wanted to replace my 3 dead crape myrtle trees but after realizing that the replacement trees were around $200-300 I decided I would try to revived the trees instead. I know that crape myrtle are very resilient and I hoped that the roots were still alive despite of the dead trunk/branches. So with that hope, I started to cut/removed the dead branches/trunk. I watered the trees every day and I decided to apply some plant/tree/shrub fertilizer and azomite to the crape myrtle.

On the two trees, I just applied some generic plant/tree/shrub food/fertilizer and on the other tree I applied the same tree food/fertilizer but I also added some azomite. The surviving crape myrtle next to my house did not receive any plant food or azomite.

A few months later I noticed the new branches were growing from my three "dead" trees. The crape myrtle with the azomite seems to grow back more aggressively but it was too early to tell. In the fall all three crape myrtle trees were successfully revived. They all have new branches growing and some even have flowers blooming. The azomite tree was the first to have the blooming flowers and seems to have much more flower blossoming. however, it was to early to tell.

Fast forward to 2yrs later in the fall of 2013....(again see picture). It is without a doubt that the crape myrtle tree with the azomite is stronger, taller, greener and more healthy than the other two crape myrtle trees without the azmomite.

Here are some of the characteristic of the crape myrtle tree with the azomite:
1) tallest tree and even taller than the crape myrtle tree that survived the original drought of 2011.
2) The leafs are ginormous! leaves is 2x bigger than the other trees. the azomite tree has an average leaf width of 2 inches and 4 inches length. the other trees were only 2 inches long by 1 inches wide. The crape myrtle next to my house is only 1 inches by 1 inches at the most. In matter of fact, most people to include the workers at the local nurseries are amazed of the size of the leaf. my leaf is the biggest they have ever seen
3)have the largest diameter trunk.

Other consideration:
SAFETY) make sure you wear some gloves when using this product. I bought the "micronized" (aka powder) version and dissolve it in a bucket of water. I didn't use any gloves and my nails were destroyed. this makes sense since azomite is made from volcanic rock so think of the powder as "fine sand." I was using my hand to stir and dissolved the azomite so imagine doing the same thing to your hand with sand paper

APPLICATION) when applying azomite to existing plants, I recommend that you dissolve the azomite with water first. if you just dump the azomite on the soil then the wind will blow away the azomite dust. the micronized azomite is a very fine powder (similar to baby powder or flour)

WHERE TO BUY). Shipping is obviously expensive so I recommend finding a local provider. go to the azomite website for a list of stores that sells it. the average price for a 44lbs bag of azomite is $40 (before tax). However, there are a few places that sell azomite for around $22. If you live Floyd County, VA then 7springsfarm (also online) is your choice. If you live in Bozeman, Montana then Planet Natural (also online) is your choice. Both 7srpingsfarm and planet natural sells the azomite for around $22. Since shipping is expensive, 7springsfarm will bring your total to around $60 but Planet Natural will bring your total to $47 (shipped). I live in south OK and normally have to drive to Dallas or West OK to buy my azomite for $40 but now I don't mind paying an extra $7 to get the azomite delivered to me.
